Water Advisory Committee

WAC

The Morrow County Water Advisory Committee (WAC) was established to address ongoing water issues in the region, particularly in the Umatilla Basin, which is facing challenges related to both water quantity and quality. The committee includes various stakeholders, such as local government officials, industry representatives, and water resource experts, with the goal of formulating policies that ensure sustainable water use for agricultural, industrial, and residential purposes. The committee is also involved in evaluating current water management strategies and proposing new actions to support water conservation and enhance water quality.

The WAC's work is closely supported by a Water Coordinator, who helps facilitate communication between stakeholders, provides technical support, and aids in the development of strategic plans. The committee reviews key issues such as domestic well usage, water quality, and ongoing local water projects, offering input on necessary policy adjustments. Additionally, the WAC works in collaboration with state and local agencies to ensure that the county's water management efforts align with broader regional goals.
