Rural Transportation Equity in Morrow County 2023
Transit Equity
Transportation is a vital component of any community, linking residents to essential services, economic opportunities, and social engagement. In rural areas like Morrow County, Oregon, where distances are vast, and resources can be limited, ensuring transportation equity is of paramount importance. The study linked below aims to explore and address the disparities in rural transportation access and opportunities within Morrow County.
In an effort to address transportation equity in Morrow County, this study conducted outreach to identify and understand specific transportation needs within disadvantaged populations. A questionnaire-based approach engaged directly with residents, particularly those who may face greater challenges in accessing transportation services. By gathering insights from individuals in these populations, the study aimed to gain an understanding of their unique needs, preferences, and obstacles when it comes to rural transportation. The questionnaire was thoughtfully designed to inquire about factors such as accessibility to healthcare facilities, employment centers, education opportunities, and social connections. This approach prioritized the voices of those who are often marginalized or underrepresented in transportation planning discussions, ensuring that the study's recommendations are not only effective but also sensitive to the diverse and vital needs of Morrow County's rural communities.
