Road Maintenance

Morrow County Road Dept. would like to remind all motorists that with any road maintenance project to be aware of the workers,  they are very important to us.

Watch for signs, flags and work-zone employees and equipment.  Morrow County's goal is to provide a safe roadway.  However, it is always up to the motorist to drive according to conditions.  Be patient and plan ahead.  Leave early if you know you will be driving through a work zones.  Please use extreme caution and common sense.  They will do their best and would appreciate your patience.

In Spring, When gravel roads get frost 6" to 12" deep and a thaw happens, the mud comes to the surface and the gravel goes down they call this pumping.   This happens every spring to some degree.  Nothing can be done to fix this it just takes a few days of drying out.  New rock can be added and road can be bladed/Graded and will be good until next time.   For those of you new to rural gravel roads,  just a fact of life. Those who have lived around this all of your lives remember last year?
Paved roads can break up under heavy loads if water has penetrated into them from cracks and or potholes.  just a fact when you just cannot wait a couple days to haul that heavy load!

Again be prepared and be safe.  Questions or concerns may be addressed to 541-989-9500 Morrow County Road Department

County government is responsible for a variety of public works functions.  The oldest and financially the most important one is the system of roads, including bridges and road-related surface drainage facilities.
