Water Testing
LUBGWMA Domestic Well Testing and Water Treatment Project
Oregon Health Authority encourages all residents who depend on private or "domestic" wells to test their well water annually no matter where they live in Oregon. However, if you live within the Lower Umatilla Basin Groundwater Management Area (LUBGWMA) of Morrow and Umatilla Counties, you may be eligible for free/subsidized private well testing. The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality designated the LUBGWMA due to levels of nitrate in groundwater that exceed the US Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) maximum contaminant level for nitrates in drinking water. So domestic well water testing is especially important for residents of the LUBGWMA.
